James Runaway Prius Sikes UPDATE FOX News com Jumps In
Theres bound to be more. Its never too late for the big dogs of (traditional) journalism to get off the porch. And Lord knows, this is the kind of story that begs for some real fact-checking. But if they choose not to, its nice to know new media can more than pick up the slack.

Chevrolet Equinox Review
No, Im not kidding. The past four years of the Chevy Equinox couldnt have been blander (quick..can you really picture one?). It was dead on arrival and buried by every new small SUV or crossover that came along since.
But this....if theyd had 535 of these to put in the Capitol parking lot a year ago, Congress would have passed a GM bailout bill so fast it would have made your head swim. There would have been no bankruptcy.
Yes...its that good. So good, in fact, that Id cross-shop it against the Mazda CX-7. And if youve read that review, you know thats saying something.
Pick the Chevy over the Mazda and you give up the sporting feel, but you gain room and a more commanding view of the road, thanks to the more traditional architecture of the Equinox.
Base price? $23,360...with most of the same standard equipment as the Mazda. The rest (apart from a sunroof) is made up for in options that, on our tester, only ran the bottom line up to $24,600. And heres what you get to sit in:
Not two years ago, I would have bet you that GM couldnt pull off an interior like that in this class and price of vehicle. Then, Id have won.
And speaking of winning, the Equinox actually takes the CX-7 on fuel economy...thanks to a six-speed automatic paired with a just-right four....the EPA says 22 city/30 highway.
This is a vehicle that deserves your attention and consideration. And the new GM needs to make everything they do from here on out as good as this.
UPDATE: Just finished a week in the top-of-the-line LTZ model. Base price jumps to $28,045, but with so much standard equipment (power liftgate, 17" aluminum wheels, rearview camera embedded in the mirror, leather, automatic climate control, a Pioneer premium audio system) that GM was able to ship this one to us option-free. So with destination charges, the tab ends up at $28,790....$4,190 more than the lightly equipped base model above.
And the EPA has revised its estimates upward...its now 22 city/32 highway. In my mix of city street and freeway driving, I saw 25.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Triton 2011 The More Powerful
Actually the engine is still the same as the previous 2.5-liter 4D56 type with DI-D Hyper Common Rail diesel units, but with a variable geometry turbo will get power and greater torque. In Thailand, this new engine has been pinned on all types of type Pajero Sport and Triton Double Cab Plus GLS AT and Double Cab 4WD GLS-Limited either maual or automatic transmission.
The new engine capable of producing power VG Turbos 178 PS with torque of 350 Nm at rpm 1.800 to 3.500 rpm. Means there is a significant power increase from the previous engine (for Thailand market) which only has power PS/321 140 Nm.
To note market Misubishi Triton and Pajero Sport with a different specification for each country. In Indonesia and Malaysia, Triton and Pajero Sport 4D56 still using the old type of engine with a power 136 PS / 314 Nm.

New Car Review Lexus GX460
15 years as a professional TireKicker (automotive journalist) and there are still things to learn.
When I got the Lexus GX460 for a week, I thought it was a spectacularly dumb design for one thing...the tailgate. The window would open upward, but the whole assembly didnt swing up and the gate below the window wouldnt swing down. Drove me nuts. Why would Lexus build a $60,000 SUV and make you load the cargo compartment from the rear seat?
A few hours later, my teenage son walked up to the GX for the first time, and opened the door out to the side.
Duh.
I could cut myself some slack and say its an unusual, if not unique design for a rear door on a big SUV, but for many years I owned a Suburban with barn doors, so I really have no excuse.
Why am I telling you this? Because its the only thing I could find wrong with the GX460...and it wasnt.
Oh, on some level I could argue that its too big, too heavy, too thirsty....but big and heavy are as big and heavy do and the GX460 doesnt drive big and heavy. Its nowhere near as ponderous as a Nissan Armada or Infiniti QX56. Thirsty I could probably make stick. The EPA says 15 city, 20 highway, and cracking 17 in a mix of the two was a chore.
But as with most vehicles with the big stylized "L" on the grille, its about what you get for your money...and for the base price of $58,240, the GX is very well equipped.
Its certainly not wanting for power, with a 301 horsepower 4.6 liter V8, the 6-speed automatic makes the fuel economy as good (relatively) as it is (cmon, 8-speed), it is more than capable off road and in bad weather, with full-time four-wheel drive and a Torsen limited-slip center differential, and its civilized on pavement thanks to a kinetic dynamic suspension system.
And then there are the niceties. Every safety technology known to man. 10-way power heated/ventilated front seats, wood interior trim, memory for the seats, steering wheel and mirrors, a reclining, sliding 60/40 second-row seat and a power fold-flat 50/50 third row seat. Theres a moonroof, a nine-speaker audio system, with 6-disc CD changer, USB, Bluetooth and satellite radio, privacy glass and as David Bowie once said, "leather, leather, everywhere."
But wait...theres more, if youre willing to pay for it. The options on our tester included a nav system with upgraded Mark Levinson audio system including 17-speaker 7.1 surround with audio and video ($3,930), Intuitive Parking Assist ($500) and wide-view front and side monitor, pre-collision system with driver attention monitor, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, intelligent high beam headlamps and crawl control ($3,170). Oh, and $64 for a cargo net.
With $895 destination, it came to $66,799.
Cheap? Hardly.
Overpriced? Um....no. Not when you look at the competition and the level of equipment and capability. And the back door opens!

Replacing brake pads Toyota Avensis
If a twelve-year Toyota Avensis was time to change the brake pads do not necessarily ask for help in an expensive car wash. This work is well under the force of any person who is familiar with the technique. Among owners of older vehicles many people like. They have a garage and a tool suitable necessary and sufficient literature on your car is. If you have recently noted the presence of vibrations at the wheels during braking, while dismantling the brakes sure to pay attention to the condition of brake discs for your car. The thickness of the body of the brake discs should not be less than twenty-two millimeters. Begin work on replacing brake pads and maybe drive by removing the wheel. It is worth recalling that the car, thus, should be completely secure yourself from falling trestle. If you started with the left wheel, be sure to turn the steering wheel to the left. This will facilitate your access to the bolts - the guides, located in closed cylindrical tubes elastics. These guides prevent gum brake pads from dirt and corrosion. Remove gum and get access to the two bolts that need to unscrew using a six-or eight-sided key. Only by removing the two screws you can remove the caliper. We have access to brake pads. One of the shoe is on the bracket, and we can easily take out. On the back side of the second block is a spring clip, which strip is attached to the brake cylinder piston. Do not fear anything, pull on the shoe itself and take out of the piston. Now the shoe dropped. So do the brake pads with the second wheel. Inspect and measure the brake discs of both wheels. If there are signs of uneven wear or measurement showed that the body of the disc below the permissible standards, remove wheels to repair or replacement. To remove the drive, remove the caliper hang so as to prevent excessive tension of the brake hose. You can tie him to a spring with a soft wire. Now you need to unscrew the two bolts that hold the bracket. They, like the guides pads, tightened with rear side. Remove the bracket and shoot disks. Sometimes they take a strong liking to the hub and take them seriously. Then use two suitable bolt that screwed into the drive, and so we shift it to the hub. If the disc is damaged beyond repair, change it to the next. But if the minimum thickness is far, it is possible, using the services of a good turner, running tap drives. It is best to search turner in places where turners teach. There turner - mentors are always the masters of high class. New or refurbished drive to install in its place. Immediately set in place the caliper bracket. Now the bracket set outer brake shoe. To install the caliper domestic brake pads, need to "drown" in the brake cylinder piston nominated. It's easy and safe to do with a suitable clamp. A guard try to stock up before disassembling the brakes, or your repair may be delayed. Do not try to hammer piston with a hammer, you can do this is expensive. Such a clamp may well be your neighbor's garage cooperative.
