How to Remove the Clock From a BMW
1. Remove the center console piece. The middle console piece on most BMWs has adjoining wood panel side pieces that will have to be removed before you can remove the center console piece, so open the glove compartment. The inner cover is held up by three screws and one rivet; remove these and then lower the inner cover to expose access to the back of the wood panel.
2.
Remove the four nylon screws holding the lower beige panel piece, followed by the four nylon screws holding the wood panel piece. Gently pull the panels off, being careful to not bend the panels.
3.
Locate and remove the two screws beneath the cup holder and OBD port. These will be hard to see so you may just have to feel for them. One will be a torx and one will be a Phillips. Make a note as to which one is which so you can remember when putting it back together. There will also be two retaining clips, so when pulling the area loose, be sure not to knock them behind the dash.
4. Remove the final four screws holding the metal frame. Two will be on the left side, one will be on the lower right either underneath or in the cup holder, and the last one is behind the OBD port.
5. Pull the frame out about 20 degrees from the right side. You should now be able to access the wires to the controls for the radio, clock, and air conditioning.
6. Reach your arm through this access area and locate the clips holding the clock.
7. Press the two clips together and the clock will pop out.
8. Disconnect the wire connector and remove the clock piece. Replace with the new clock and reconnect the wires.
9. Reinsert the clip tabs into place and push the frame back into place.
10. Tighten all screws back into place in the reverse order and realign the panels into place.
